Member of the Scientific Committee of the journal Diogenes and of the Edotorial Board of Visual Anthropology. Permanent Member of the Advisory Committee of the Margaret Mead Film end Video Festival, New York.

From 1999, representative of the IUAES at the UNESCO's International Committee of Philosophy and Human Sciences (ICPHS). Past-Chairman (1992-2003) of Commission on Visual Anthropology at the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES).

Scholarship at the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies (1962).
